Don't want to be pedantic, but it's "Chesil" beach, from Old English ceosol, cisel = shingle. It's in view from my nearest bit of coast.

Well, if the shingles had gone it very strict order from smallest to largest, that would have been very impressive. And there is still something very impressive about the fact that there is a general tendency from smallest to highest at all.
